the life and work of

Professor Paul Hill MBE

#

Paul Hill is a photographer and photographic educator who has lived and worked in the Peak District of Derbyshire in Northern England since the 1970’s.

He is probably best known for his seminal landscape work "White Peak Dark Peak" which, through repeated visits, explores the topography of the area around his home.

Paul, along with his late wife, Angela, was the founder of "The Photographers Place", probably the first independent study centre running masterclasses with internationally significant photographers in Europe.

This film examines Paul’s life and work in photography. Paul is interviewed in depth about his work, his motivations and practice. Contributions from Photographic Historian, Professor Roger Taylor and Art Historian and Curator, Nicholas Alfrey, provide an historic and cultural context to Paul’s work
